Derbyshire pub joins lifesaving charity’s Pub Club initiative

The Bentley Brook Inn in Derbyshire has joined the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance’s (DLRAA) Pub Club initiative to raise vital funds to support their lifesaving missions.

The charity’s initiative, Pub Club, brings together landlords, breweries and pub visitors to give them a place to fundraise through a whole host of means such as quizzes, games tournaments, family fun days and themed evenings in support of the national lifesaving charity. All participants get full support from a dedicated Community Fundraising Executive in their local area, as well as bespoke collateral to help promote their involvement and support for the charity.

The Bentley Brook Inn decided to put on a comedy night to start their fundraising for the lifesaving charity, with the help of one of their regular customers who was always telling jokes. The event was a sell out and they also held a raffle on the evening, with the pub donating several prizes, raising a total of £1,215.

“Our very first charity event was a great success and we would like to thank everyone who attended and helped to raise vital funds to support the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance,” said Russ landlord of The Bentley Brook Inn.

“We can’t wait to raise further funds to support the lifesaving charity throughout 2024 and we are proud to be part of their Pub Club,” he added.

Within minutes, DLRAA’s critical care crews can be on the ground delivering pre-hospital critical care and giving patients the very best chance of survival – this vital service relies entirely on donations to raise the £2,300 needed for each rescue mission, as the charity receives no government or National Lottery funding.

Community Fundraising Executive for Derbyshire, Tracey Jones said:

“We are so happy to have The Bentley Brook Inn as part of our Pub Club fundraising initiative. This is a fun way to not only support our lifesaving service but to also get the community involved to showcase how local pubs really are at the heart of a community.”

“We don’t receive National Lottery or government funding, so rely entirely on voluntary donations and support from local communities and businesses. Support through initiatives such as this keep the lifesaving service operational,” she expressed.
